Today’s inspiration is a little different as it uses a cross stitched motif! I have done cross stitching for many, many years, but it’s less common these days for me to put it on my cards. I used to do it much more but now do tend to go for the straight paper crafting option when making most of my cards.
But I had this little cupcake motif part-stitched in my stash and thought it’d be a good idea to get it done, and used!
The cross stitching was part of a freebie kit that was a freebie with The World of Cross Stitching magazine a couple of years ago. I used to be Editor of this magazine and loved stitching lots of the little cover-mounted freebies, as well as other projects from inside. This cute kit had a set of pretty charts from artwork by the illustrator, Siobhan Harrison. I loved when I had the chance to work with Siobhan and feature her April Rose brand in the magazine.
These particular projects were designed to be made into little tags, so we included the printed tag ephemera and baker’s twine in the kit too!
Here’s a close-up of the dainty stitching, based on Siobhan’s pretty watercolour artwork…
The tag looks fab mounted up with some pink and floral patterned papers, and a metallic bronze layer. Then I finished it all off with a gold diecut greeting piece, and a trio accent of sequins fixed with Glossy Accents.
I’m glad that my mini stitching project finally got finished and put to good use on this card. I know the lucky recipient will appreciate it 😉
Thanks for stopping by today and hope you enjoyed the inspiration!
