Cut Files, Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking with a cut file

It’s been rather super-busy here of late (including the fact we’re having a new kitchen put in – exciting!!) so finding time and space to craft, around all the chaos, is tricky right now! Luckily, last Saturday was the regular Mind The Scrap crop day which I love to go to for a creative day out 😉
It was a welcome chance to have some crafty ‘me time’!

Here’s one of the pages I made…

I have had this idea in my head for some time and was itching to put it in to practice! I had the pre-cut ‘Hexagon’ cut file, which I’d bought from Pretty My Page. I don’t have an electronic cutting machine, but this is a great way to buy them pre-cut.
This one starts out life looking a little differently, but I wanted to do a bit of trimming and make my own version…
I cut it in half to use it on the two sides of my page. I trimmed off the side borders too, then backed all the apertures with yellow patterned pieces. It was a really good way to use up plenty of the yellow bits in my stash of scrap paper bits!

I was inspired too by the current challenge over at the Ella Bonella Facebook group to use yellow and go for a summery vibe!

I thought the sunshiney look would be great for these wildflower photos from our recent summer holiday to north Wales, when we took a nature hike around the Great Orme. Stunning 😉

I arranged the photos down the centre of my page and used alphas and Thickers to spell out my title. Space too for plenty of flower chipboard and stickers to complement the theme. Plus, some butterfly stickers, like the ones we saw lots of on our walk, enjoying the wildflower nectar!

I made a good-sized embellishment cluster with some ephemera and a diecut bunny shape (to remember those bunnies who live up on the Great Orme!)
Then it’s finished off with some adhesive pearls and lots of Nuvo Crystal Drops in ‘Dandelion Yellow’.

I’m super-chuffed with this page – I’m really pleased how the cut file idea that I had in my head really came to life well!
What about you… do you like using cut files? I hope this idea was a bit of fun inspiration anyway 😉
Until next time, Ruth x
