Celebrating Design Team fun

Now that my term on the Angela Poole Design Team is over for the year, I thought it’d be a great opportunity to record those fun times in my scrapbook album. Especially the hoot I had working with them as a demonstrator at the ICHF trade show.

I had plenty of photos to use, of all sizes, so turned it into a double-page spread 😉
My top tip for approaching a page (or two) with so many photos, especially of different sizes, is to think chronologically. I like to tell the story from the far left to the far right, across my paper(s) and jigsaw the photos in roughly that order.
Then I can fit my title, the embellishment clusters and journaling spots around them.

I used lots of gorgeous goodies from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio ‘Wild at Heart’ collection, which I bought here in the UK from the lovely Helen, at Ella Bonella.
The watercolour colour style of this collection and bold pastels are just my cup of tea!

I had lots of journaling to do as well as sharing lots of photos, both of cards I’d made also of my trip to the NEC Birmingham for the craft trade show, where I was helping Angela & co, as a demonstrator on the stand and in their workshop session.
You can read my blog post about that trip here!

As well as all my photos and memory journaling, I created some fun layered clusters, especially thanks to the gorgeous ephemera and stickers in the ‘Wild at Heart’ collection. I added to these too, with some Pink Paislee ephemera (Paige Evans’ ‘Whimsical’ collection).

I had to use a good smattering of the cute panda puffy stickers, throughout – they were from the Crate Paper, Maggie Holmes collection ‘Willow Lane’. I’m a pandaholic so they definitely work on such a pair of happy pages about all my fun creative times!

Trade show demonstrating!

Lest weekend was the UK’s annual trade fair for the craft industry: CHSI Stitches, held at the NEC in Birmingham. It was held 17-19 February. I was delighted to have been asked to help with demonstrating for the lovely team at Angela Poole, for whom I’m a Design Team member.
I shared a few pics and ‘stories’ on my Facebook and Instagram, while I was there, but I thought I’d share a little behind the scenes from the show, here as well.

There’s Angela herself behind me, getting the demo area set up.

As a crafter, it’s always exciting to see what’s new in the craft world, even though when you’re working on a stand, it is hard work!
I’ve been visiting this trade show for many years, meeting the industry in my previous jobs as a craft magazine journalist, but it was great fun to work on a stand this time. Not only to get to show off the products, but I did get to see lots of old colleagues and people that I know in the industry.

I’m lucky to have known Angela for many years (and worked with her in my last job) so I know her talent for all things creative. Being selected to work on the Design Team for Angela Poole is a real honour for me, so I can help showcase her fab innovative products. (My fave is the super-clever Magic Windows ‘Slide and Reveal’ die set but it’s only just ahead of her stunning stamp designs. The Buds to Blooms ‘Perfect Peonies’ multi-layered stamp set is completely swoon-worthy!!)

Lots of customers admiring all the goodies on the stand!
And doesn’t Angela’s hand-cut 3D flower display look fab?!

Luckily, we had a great few days on the stand, and the products were really well received by businesses and retailers coming to look around.

We got to do workshops in one of the main workshop arenas, and plenty of demos on the stand too. Here are some of the cards I made that I quickly got to snap photos of in the (brief!) quiet moments. I wish I’d taken some video too, of the interactive movements of those Magic Windows cards – ah well, next time!

The team took lots of trade orders, so crafters from all around the UK can look forward to seeing Angela Poole products in craft stores near them!
Don’t forget, if you’d like your independent local craft store to stock Angela Poole products, be sure to ask them so they can order them in for you.
